Android TV, Google TV, Nvidia Shield and Android phones and tablets are the screens built for CatchOn TV. The CatchOn TV app installs from its APK file, and TiviMate Premium is included with your plan for the Android TV and Google TV players.
Why Android is the easy route
These systems let you install an APK file from outside an app store, once you allow it for a specific app. The app then behaves like any other, with a channel list, a guide and favourites. TiviMate sits alongside it on Google TV and Android TV with its Premium features unlocked.
Installing on Android TV, Google TV and Nvidia Shield
- Install the free Downloader app from the Google Play Store.
- Open Downloader, allow it to install unknown apps when Android asks, and type the Downloader code from your activation email: the code in your activation email.
- Download the CatchOn TV APK and install it.
- Open the app and enter the activation code and login details from your email.
Installing on an Android phone or tablet
Use the download link in your activation email: the download link in your activation email. Open it in your phone’s browser, download the APK, and allow installs from that browser when Android asks. Then open the app and sign in.
Setting up TiviMate Premium
TiviMate is installed from Google Play on Android TV and Google TV. Sign in with the TiviMate account in My subscription, then add the playlist details. The TiviMate guide shows each step.
Android settings differ between manufacturers. If a menu name differs from this guide, the same option is usually under Security, Install unknown apps, or Special access.
Questions about Android devices
Why does Android ask for permission to install unknown apps?
The CatchOn TV app is not in the Play Store, so Android needs you to allow the installer once. You can switch that permission off afterwards.
Can I install the app on a tablet?
Yes. Use the download link on the tablet and sign in with the same activation code.
Do I need to update the app?
Updates come as new APK files. When one is released, install it over the old one; your sign-in and favourites stay in place.
