The news group in CatchOn TV carries rolling news channels and current affairs programmes from several countries. Because news channels run all day, a live channel is always on hand when something happens.
Live news, guided
Rolling news channels change their output as stories break, so their listings in the guide can shift. For a bulletin at a particular time, check the guide for the programme name. For breaking news, simply open a news channel.
News from other countries
Stations from other countries sit in the world channels group, grouped by region and language. Their listings follow the time zone of the country they broadcast from, which the app converts to yours.
Picture and sound
News channels are usually offered in HD. Because much of their output is studio footage, a small picture is often enough, but a larger screen shows on-screen text and graphics more clearly.
Questions about news channels
Are the news channels live all the time?
Most rolling news channels run live continuously. A few broadcast repeats overnight, which the guide shows.
Why do the times look wrong for a news bulletin?
Check the time zone setting in the app. Listings follow the broadcaster’s time, and a one-hour error usually means the offset is set incorrectly.
Can I watch a news bulletin I missed?
Some channels offer catch-up. Look for the replay marker in the programme guide.
