Children’s channels are kept in their own group in CatchOn TV, so a younger viewer can browse without reaching adult programmes. The group holds cartoons, pre-school shows and family programmes, and its schedule runs through the day.
Keeping the set-up child-friendly
- Use a separate favourites list. In the app, add only the channels you want children to see, and the list stays short.
- Hide the adult groups. TiviMate lets you hide whole groups from the playlist settings, so the kids’ screen shows only what you choose.
- Use a lock, if your app offers one. Some players can lock groups behind a PIN. Choose one that children cannot guess.
When children use the remote
Set the favourites before handing over the remote. A child who selects a channel from the kids group will see only that programming. If a channel shows something unsuitable, the support team can help you look into it.
Questions about children’s channels
Is the kids group safe for young children?
It is designed for children’s programmes, but no line-up is guaranteed to be free of unsuitable content. Adult viewers should set up the favourites and check the group themselves.
Can I limit viewing time?
The app does not count viewing time for you, so set limits with the screen’s own parental controls or a timer in your home.
Do children’s channels have catch-up?
Some do. Check the programme guide for the catch-up marker on each channel.
