Fire TV sticks and the Fire TV Cube are popular screens for CatchOn TV. Most run Fire OS, which lets Downloader install the CatchOn TV app, and TiviMate Premium runs on them too. The exception is the newer Vega OS, which we cover below.
Check the system first
Open Settings, then My Fire TV, then About, and read the software name. A Fire OS device will say so. If the device runs Vega OS, the app cannot be installed, so stop here and contact support before you buy a replacement.
Installing the app
- From the Fire TV home screen, search for Downloader and install it from the Amazon Appstore.
- Open Settings, then My Fire TV, then Developer options, and turn on Install unknown apps for Downloader. If Developer options is missing, look for Install unknown apps under Security.
- Open Downloader and type the code from your activation email: the code in your activation email. Press Go.
- Download the CatchOn TV APK when it appears, then select Install.
- Open the app, enter the activation code and login details, and wait for the channel list to load.
Adding TiviMate Premium
TiviMate installs the same way, using its APK from the TiviMate website and Downloader. Sign in with the TiviMate details in My subscription and add the playlist. The TiviMate guide covers each step.
Fire TV menu names change between software versions. If a step is missing, search the settings for “unknown apps” or “install unknown apps”.
Questions about Fire TV
Does the Fire TV Stick 4K Select run CatchOn TV?
It depends on its software. Amazon is moving some sticks to Vega OS, which installs apps only from its own store, and those cannot run the app. Check the About page as described above.
Does the Fire TV Stick Lite run the app?
If it runs Fire OS, yes. The Lite model is less powerful, so the 4K picture may be limited, but HD channels run.
Will I still need Downloader after the first install?
No. Once the app is installed, you use it directly. Keep Downloader if you want to install a future update the same way.
