A Fire TV stick or the Fire TV Cube is one of the most common screens for CatchOn TV. The app installs with Downloader, a free app from the Amazon Appstore, and it takes a few minutes once you know the steps. This article walks through the whole route.
Check the software first
Open Settings, then My Fire TV, then About. A Fire OS device names its software as Fire OS. If the device runs Amazon’s newer Vega OS, the CatchOn TV app cannot be installed, because that system installs apps only from Amazon’s own store. Check this before you start.
Install Downloader
From the Fire TV home screen, search for Downloader and install it from the Amazon Appstore. Open it once so it is ready to use.
Allow unknown apps
Open Settings, then My Fire TV, then Developer options. Turn on Install unknown apps, and allow it for Downloader. If Developer options is missing, open About, select the device name several times until a message says Developer options is on, and then return to the settings.
Use the code from your email
Open Downloader and type the Downloader code from your activation email. Press Go. The page loads the CatchOn TV APK. If the code does not load, use the download link in the same email in the stick’s browser instead.
Install the app
When the APK appears, select it and choose Install. Once the install finishes, choose Open, or find CatchOn TV in your apps. You can delete the APK file afterwards to free space.
Sign in
The first screen asks for your activation code. Type it exactly as it appears, then enter the login details if the app asks for them. The channel list loads after a short wait. Set the time zone in the programme guide, save a few favourites and open a channel to test it.
Add TiviMate Premium
Your plan includes a TiviMate Premium account. Install TiviMate from its website using Downloader, sign in with the TiviMate details under My subscription, and add your playlist. The TiviMate guide covers each step.
