This is the question we receive most: can I watch CatchOn TV on my Samsung or LG television? The answer is that the CatchOn TV app itself cannot be installed on those sets, because their systems do not run Android APK files. The good news is that there are two routes that work well.
Why the app will not install
The CatchOn TV app is an Android APK. Samsung’s Tizen and LG’s webOS are different systems, and they do not install APK files. Some guides online suggest installing the APK through the television’s web browser. That advice is out of date and does not work on these systems, so do not rely on it.
Route one: a compatible player
Search the television’s app store for an IPTV player that accepts an Xtream-style login, which means a server address, a username and a password. Install it and enter the details from your activation email or from My subscription. Availability depends on the store and your country, so we cannot promise that a particular player is listed.
Route two: an Android box
Connect an Android TV or Google TV device to an HDMI port on the television. The box runs the CatchOn TV app and TiviMate Premium, and the television shows the picture. This route gives you the full app and TiviMate features, and it works on any television with an HDMI port.
Which route to choose
If you want the simplest set-up and the full app, use an Android box. If you want to avoid extra hardware and are happy with a compatible player, use the store route. Check the player’s support notes before you rely on it.
The short version
The CatchOn TV app cannot be installed on Samsung or LG televisions. Use a compatible player from the television’s store, or connect an Android TV or Google TV box. The smart TV guide has the steps for the player route.
