People with Apple devices often ask whether CatchOn TV works on an iPhone, an iPad or an Apple TV. The honest answer is that the CatchOn TV app itself does not run on them, because it is an Android app and Apple does not allow APK files. Here is what you can do instead.

The app and Apple devices

Apple’s systems do not install APK files, so there is no CatchOn TV app for iPhone, iPad or Apple TV. This is a limit of the app, and no setting on the device changes it.

Using a compatible player

An iPhone or iPad can play the service through a compatible IPTV player from the App Store. Sign in with the server, username and password from your activation email or from My subscription. Availability depends on your country and on Apple’s store rules, and we cannot promise a particular player is listed, so read each description carefully.

Getting it onto a big screen

For the living room, you have two main choices. You can mirror or cast the iPhone or iPad to a television, which works for a single viewer. Or you can connect an Android TV or Google TV device to the television, which runs the CatchOn TV app and TiviMate Premium and is the more comfortable choice for families.

What to check before you rely on it

Test the player on the Apple device before the first big match or film. Check the programme guide time zone, and check that the picture holds on your connection. Our iPhone install guide walks through the set-up.

The short version

CatchOn TV does not run on iPhone, iPad or Apple TV as an app. Use a compatible player from the App Store, or add an Android device to the television for the full app.
